Community One: Investing in Place, Investing in People
The Challenge - Long Term Video Production
Community One of Evansville, a nonprofit dedicated to revitalizing neighborhoods, needed a powerful storytelling tool to showcase its long-term impact. The goal was to create a film that would not only document the physical transformation of homes but also capture the spirit of community, faith, and neighborly love that drives their mission. The film had to serve as a compelling asset for fundraising, community engagement, and illustrating the profound effect of their work on residents' lives.
The Solution
We embarked on an ambitious five-year documentary project titled "Investing in Place, Investing in People." Partnering with director Chris Weatherly, Community One decided to follow the rehabilitation of three homes on a single block. This long-term, embedded approach allowed us to tell a deep, authentic story of transformation. To ensure the narrative was heartfelt and true to the organization's voice, we collaborated closely with Community One's Executive Director, Jessica Welcher, on the script.
The Results
The resulting film is a powerful testament to Community One’s mission. It serves as a vital media tool that effectively highlights the incredible journey of the homes and their new residents. The documentary has been instrumental in supporting fundraising efforts, fostering deeper community engagement, and creating a profound sense of belonging. It powerfully demonstrates the impact of investing in not just houses, but in people and the neighborhood they call home.
